BJP and Congress on Thursday launched a sharp attack on BJD supremo and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik, accusing him of “doing drama” over the issue of increased salaries and allowances for state MLAs.

The criticism comes a day after Naveen Patnaik wrote a letter to the Chief Minister stating that BJD MLAs would not accept the revised salary and allowances. Both BJP and Congress questioned his move and raised objections.

The opposition parties also asked why Naveen Patnaik was not present in the State Assembly during the discussion on the issue, intensifying the political confrontation in Odisha.
