Social activist Meera Parida has alleged that in Odisha, politicians and actors are frequently making statements that insult third-gender persons and undermine their rights. She said such remarks are bringing a bad name to society and making the lives of third-gender people unbearable.

Parida stated, “Educated people are defaming our society. Our right to live is being made difficult. We strongly oppose this. That is why we have approached the Human Rights Commission.”
