Sundargarh district in western Odisha is shrouded in an unusually heavy fog, reducing visibility drastically — locals report that in some areas nothing is visible even within 10 metres. This dense mist is not merely a weather phenomenon but a growing crisis for residents, affecting farmers, traders and everyday work in the forest belt.

According to community representative Ranjit Choudhury, “From farmers to businessmen — everyone is feeling the impact. The fog is so thick that beyond ten metres everything vanishes, making travel, agriculture and even basic life extremely difficult.”

As the fog persists, concerns are growing over safety, crop yield, transport and livelihoods. For many tribal and rural families in Sundargarh, this harsh natural condition is more than a weather nuisance — it’s a serious disruption.
