Cuttack Murder: Kin Place Body at Madhupatna PS, Protest Over Delayed Arrest!

Tension erupted outside Madhupatna Police Station in Cuttack as family members and locals staged a protest by placing the body of Soumya Ranjan Jena (alias Rinku) in front of the station, demanding immediate arrest of the accused. The 32-year-old youth was shot dead on February 18, 2026, during a liquor-fueled feast with friends at an abandoned government quarter in Nuapada Press Colony. He sustained gunshot wounds to the chest/stomach area amid a sudden quarrel and was declared dead at SCB Medical College and Hospital. Despite one person being arrested, the main accused remains at large, fueling anger over police inaction more than 24 hours later. The protest caused temporary unrest at the station, with demands for swift justice and stringent action against the culprits.
