As President Droupadi Murmu arrives in Bhubaneswar to address the Odisha Legislative Assembly, Congress MLA Sofia Firdous described it as a “day of pride” for the state. She said that her decision to support the President was right, and expressed her excitement at witnessing this historic moment.

“Our soil — our Odia identity — was chosen first. We voted for the President and today’s occasion has become a matter of pride for Odisha,” Firdous said. She added that as a first-time legislator she is especially thrilled by today’s events.

Her remarks come amid widespread attention on the President’s visit, which many see as a moment of honour for Odisha.
