The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) has decided that candidates will be given from the Indian National Congress party for upcoming elections, and discussions are underway on how to finalise the list. A meeting of the Congress Legislature Party leaders was held yesterday in the chamber of the PCC president to deliberate on the matter. Legislators have taken an oath to support the Congress candidate in the polls, rejecting the idea of an alliance ticket with the Biju Janata Dal (BJD). The discussions also suggest that some BJD MLAs may extend support to Congress nominees. Rahul Gandhi is expected to be called soon to decide who will be the candidate, a decision that Bhakta Das, a Congress legislator, says will be finalised by Bhakta Das, Tara Prasad Bahinipati, and other leaders.
