A severe cold wave has engulfed Odisha, with temperatures plunging sharply across the state. Similipal recorded a chilling zero degree Celsius, while at least 23 cities saw the mercury dip below 10 degrees. According to the Weather Department, the cold wave conditions are likely to persist for another three days.

The intense cold has triggered frost in some regions, while dense fog has reduced visibility in others. G Udayagiri recorded a minimum temperature of 3 degrees Celsius, and similar conditions prevailed in Kandhamal district, where the mercury also slipped below 3 degrees.
