In a major bust near Brahmapur, police along with the RPF Crime Team arrested two alleged ganja-traffickers and seized about 17 kg of ganja — hidden cleverly inside plastic cricket bats and school-bags. The accused are said to be from Murshidabad (West Bengal), and were intercepted during an investigation targeting a cross-state trafficking route allegedly linking Kerala and Brahmapur.

“They were using plastic bats and school-bags to smuggle ganja. Such a method betrayed no suspicion at first glance.” — Police sources

The seizure also included 23 new school-bags and 10 plastic cricket bats — signaling a worrying new trend in drug smuggling. The arrest aims to dismantle the network involved in transporting contraband under the guise of innocuous goods.
