ଆରମ୍ଭ ହୋଇଛି ପକ୍ଷୀ ଗଣନା। ଚିଲିକା ଓ ହୀରାକୁଦ ଡ୍ୟାମରେ ପକ୍ଷୀ ଗଣନା କରାଯାଉଛି। ଚିଲିକାର ୫ଟି ରେଞ୍ଜରେ ୨୨ଟି ବନ ବିଭାଗ ସମତେ ଅନ୍ୟ ବିଶେଷଜ୍ଞଙ୍କ ଟିମ୍ ସାମିଲ ହୋଇଛନ୍ତି। ବାଲୁଗାଁ, ରମ୍ଭା, ଟାଙ୍ଗୀ, ଚିଲିକା ଓ ସାତପଡ଼ା ରେଞ୍ଜରେ ଗଣନା ହେଉଛି। ସମଗ୍ର ଚିଲିକାକୁ ଚଳିତବର୍ଷ କେତେ ସଂଖ୍ୟକ ଦେଶୀ-ବିଦେଶୀ ପକ୍ଷୀଙ୍କ ସମାଗମ ହୋଇଛି, କେତେ ପ୍ରଜାତିର ପକ୍ଷୀ ଆସିଛନ୍ତି। ପକ୍ଷୀମାନଙ୍କର ସଂଖ୍ୟା କେତେ ଅଛି ତାହାର ଟିକିନିଖି ଗଣନା କରାଯାଉଛି। ସେହିପରି ସମ୍ବଲପୁର ହୀରାକୁଦ ଡ୍ୟାମରେ ବି ପକ୍ଷୀ ଗଣନା ହେଉଛି।

The annual bird census has commenced at Odisha’s major wetland sites, Chilika Lake and Hirakud Dam. Teams from the Forest Department along with experts are conducting the exercise to record the presence of birds this season.

In Chilika, the census is being carried out across five ranges — Balugaon, Rambha, Tangi, Chilika and Satapada. A total of 22 Forest Department units, along with other specialists, are involved in the detailed counting process.

The exercise aims to assess how many resident and migratory birds have arrived this year, the number of species present, and their overall population. Similar bird counting activities are also underway at Hirakud Dam in Sambalpur.
