In a major anti-Maoist operation in Bastar, Chhattisgarh, security forces killed 14 Maoists while the top Naxal leader, Sachin Mangudu, escaped. The encounter took place in the forests of Konta Kistaram, with gunfire exchanged between Maoists and security personnel.
