In a tragic incident early Friday morning, a private bus traveling from Hyderabad to Bengaluru caught fire after colliding with a motorcycle near Chinnatekur village in Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh. The accident occurred between 3:00 and 3:10 AM, resulting in the deaths of at least 20 passengers and injuries to several others. The bus, operated by Kaveri Travels, was carrying 41 people, including two drivers. The collision caused the motorcycle to get stuck under the bus, leading to sparks that ignited the fuel tank. Despite efforts by the driver and co-driver to extinguish the flames, the fire rapidly engulfed the vehicle.

Many passengers were asleep when the fire broke out, and some managed to escape by breaking emergency windows. However, several others were trapped inside and perished in the blaze. The authorities have initiated DNA sampling to identify the charred remains of the victims. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Governor S. Abdul Nazeer have expressed their condolences and directed officials to provide medical assistance to the injured.
