Administration Rescues Dukha Nayak After OTV Report, Provides Shelter and Support

Following the broadcast of a news report, the district administration reached Dukha Nayak of Merapalli village in Mohana block of Gajapati district and rescued him from a hill area, bringing him back to the village and arranging rehabilitation. Dukha Nayak had been living in severe hardship after his house was destroyed during Cyclone Titli.

After losing his home, Dukha Nayak had no shelter in the village and also did not receive ration supplies due to the absence of a ration card. Following the death of his wife, and after his son got married and moved elsewhere, he was left alone and forced to live in a hut on a hill inside the forest. The issue came to light through a report aired on OTV.

After watching the report, the Consumer Welfare Minister directed the district administration to immediately include Dukha Nayak under government welfare schemes and provide assistance. Acting on the instructions, the BDO, Tahasildar, Supply Officer, Panchayat Executive Officer, and the local Sarpanch climbed the hill and reached Dukha Nayak to extend support.
