In a shocking incident, burglars looted gold ornaments worth ₹7–8 lakh and cash from the hundi at the Rekula Mangala Temple near Kamakhyanagar late last night. The theft came to light this morning when the temple priest arrived for daily rituals and found the main door broken and the deity’s ornaments missing.

According to information, the miscreants broke into the temple at night and escaped with gold items including necklaces, earrings, mangalsutra, nose ring, silver crowns and waist ornaments, along with around ₹20,000 in cash from the hundi.

This incident follows similar thefts in recent days at Malpura Ram Temple and Anantapur Radha Krishna Temple, both located within three kilometres of Kamakhyanagar Police Station. Locals allege lack of night patrolling and police inaction, claiming temples have become soft targets for thieves.

Angry residents have demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and intensified police patrolling to prevent further incidents.
