A serious firewood shortage has emerged at Swargadwar in Puri, creating difficulties for families performing last rites. The supply of firewood has fallen short of the number of bodies arriving daily for cremation, leaving relatives distressed and struggling to complete funeral rituals.

Due to the worsening situation, intellectuals have stressed the need to use electric cremation furnaces as an alternative. They warn that without proper planning and alternative arrangements to firewood, the situation may become more critical in the coming days.
