Despite no reconstruction of Puri's Raghunandan Library since the 2018 fire that damaged priceless manuscripts (though all pothis and texts were preserved), the initial ₹5 crore approval went unused. Now, the Odisha government has allocated ₹1,000 crore in the 2026-27 budget for a grand museum near Sri Jagannath Temple, featuring the deity's various beshas (attires), historical attacks/lootings, Patali legends, Kanchi expedition tales with Jaga Balia, divine mahaprasad items, and cultural traditions. Sri Jagannath culture researchers and intellectuals have hailed the move, noting it will allow devotees to explore the heritage conveniently post-darshan.
