Residents of Kalabuda Gram Panchayat in Kendrapara district say their homes have become infested with Kalimundi insects. According to villagers, pests crawl through kitchens, yards and even into their houses — forcing many to abandon cooking and refrain from moving around.

One resident shared: “We’ve never seen so many insects at once. The pests have entered our homes — we dare not step out.” The fear and panic are real, with people living in constant dread of a crawl of insects at any time.

This insect invasion comes amidst a wider outbreak that has already devastated crops across multiple blocks of Kendrapara. What began as an agricultural crisis is now threatening household safety and daily living — highlighting the urgent need for pest-control assistance, relief and support for affected families.
