After the death of Odia playback singer Humane Sagar, a recording studio in Cuttack has retired the microphone he once used and turned it into a symbol of tribute and love. The studio, headed by music-director Premananda and joined by the entire team, has declared that no other vocalist will sing through this mic — it will remain permanently in his memory. Fans, artists and studio staff gathered around the inanimate object, as though offering their affection and blessings to the departed artist. In 2012, Humane Sagar recorded his first film song in this very studio and over time it became his favourite place; the studio now pays homage and offers floral tributes along with a minute of silent prayer.
