Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha reiterated in a press conference that the team will abide by the government's decision not to play India, stating the match is "not in our control" and they respect the directive while focusing on their other three group games. Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif confirmed the boycott as solidarity with Bangladesh (excluded after refusing to play in India). Sri Lanka Cricket Board has written to PCB urging reconsideration, warning of major financial, logistical, and reputational damage (potential $70M+ losses from tourism/hotel/ticket impacts). PCB responded they cannot override the government. ICC is in back-channel talks with PCB for resolution, warning of consequences (possible sanctions/points forfeiture). India captain Suryakumar Yadav affirmed plans to travel to Colombo. The boycott could lead to ICC penalties on PCB if enforced.
