US Agrees to Trade Deal with India, Tariffs Slashed from 50% to 18% After Modi–Trump Call

The United States has agreed to move forward with a trade deal with India, US President Donald Trump announced after a phone conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Following the talks, the US reduced tariffs on India from 50 percent to 18 percent. The development was first indicated by the US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, and shortly after, President Trump officially confirmed both the tariff reduction and America’s willingness to finalise the trade deal with India.
