On the occasion of Biju Jayanti, Sreemayee Mishra launched a sharp attack on BJD president and former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, raising several questions about his efforts to honour Biju Patnaik. She asked how many times Naveen Patnaik approached the Delhi leadership to demand the Bharat Ratna for Biju Patnaik despite being in power for nearly three decades.

Sreemayee Mishra also questioned whether merely garlanding statues was enough for a son who enjoyed political power in his father’s name. She further alleged that the memorial of Biju Patnaik at Swargadwar in Puri had been demolished and criticised the handling of the issue.
