President Droupadi Murmu of India prayed for the welfare of the nation and its people during her visit to Jajpur, Odisha, today. As part of her official itinerary, she performed pinda daan — a sacred Hindu ritual for ancestors — at Nabhi Gaya, a revered site near the historic Maa Biraja Temple within the temple premises.

After completing the ancestral rites, President Murmu visited all the deities within the Biraja Temple complex, offering prayers and seeking divine blessings for the well-being of the country and its citizens. The Biraja Temple, a centuries-old shrine dedicated to Goddess Biraja (form of Durga), attracts devotees from across Odisha and beyond.

Pinda daan holds deep spiritual significance in Hindu tradition and is believed to help the souls of departed ancestors attain peace and liberation. President Murmu’s engagement in these rituals reflects both her personal reverence and the cultural importance of the ceremony during this significant state visit.
