Odisha proposes changes to spellings of 24 places to restore Odia names

ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ଜିଲ୍ଲା ଦେବଗଡ଼ କିନ୍ତୁ ଇଂରାଜୀରେ ଉଚ୍ଚାରଣ କଲେ ଦେଓଗର। ଲାଗୁଛି ଯେମିତି ବିହାରରେ। ଏମିତି ସମସ୍ୟା ପାଇଁ ବିଭିନ୍ନ ଜିଲ୍ଲା ଏବଂ ସ୍ଥାନର ଓଡ଼ିଆ ଉଚ୍ଚାରଣ ସହ ଇଂରାଜୀ ଉଚ୍ଚାରଣ ସମାନ କରିବାକୁ ଅଣ୍ଟା ଭିଡିଛନ୍ତି ରାଜ୍ୟ ସରକାର। ଏଥିପାଇଁ ଏସବୁ ସ୍ଥାନର ଇଂରାଜୀ ନାଁ ସଂଶୋଧନ ପାଇଁ ଉଦ୍ୟମ ଆରମ୍ଭ କରିଛନ୍ତି। ୧୧ ଜିଲ୍ଲାର ୨୪ଟି ସ୍ଥାନର ନାଁ ସଂଶୋଧନ ପାଇଁ ରାଜସ୍ୱ ବିଭାଗ ପକ୍ଷରୁ ବିଜ୍ଞପ୍ତି ପ୍ରକାଶ ପାଇଛି। ଆଉ ଏହା ପରେ ଅନ୍ୟ ସ୍ଥାନରୁ ବି ଏଭଳି ବ୍ୟତିକ୍ରମ ହଟାଇବାକୁ ଦାବି ହେଲାଣି।...

The Odisha Government has announced an initiative to standardize the English spellings of districts and place names to match their Odia pronunciations. The move initially covers 24 locations across 11 districts, with a focus on 7 districts where discrepancies are most noticeable. The Revenue Department has issued public notices for the corrections, and similar changes may be requested from other areas in the future.
