In a significant development, 16 Maoist cadres, including seven women, have surrendered in Narayanpur district, Chhattisgarh, marking a substantial setback for the insurgent group. These individuals, affiliated with the Maad Division, Northern Bureau, and Kutul Area Committees, carried a combined reward of ₹48 lakh. Their decision to renounce violence and extremism reflects a growing disillusionment with the Maoist ideology and a desire for peace. The surrender ceremony was attended by senior police officials, including Narayanpur SP Robinson Guria, and representatives from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Border Security Force (BSF). Each surrendered individual received an incentive of ₹50,000 under the state's rehabilitation policy, 'Poona Margham: From Rehabilitation to Rejuvenation,' which aims to reintegrate former militants into society through financial aid, vocational training, and other support measures. This event underscores the effectiveness of the state's efforts to promote peace and development in Maoist-affected regions.
