The Bhubaneswar–Cuttack Police Commissionerate has arrested Debabrata Padhi for allegedly duping people by promising unusually high returns on their investments. The accused was apprehended by police of Pahala police station area.

According to police, Debabrata Padhi, who was working in a senior position at a company, allegedly collected lakhs of rupees from various individuals by assuring them of hefty interest. However, after some time, he reportedly stopped paying returns and began cheating the investors.
