A gruesome murder has been reported in Puri, where a young man was killed near Swaragdwar (Swarag Dwar), a prominent area in the temple city. The deceased has been identified as Ranjan Das, a resident of Apanda village under Banth police limits, Bhadrak district. He had come to Puri reportedly for cremation (shabdaah), but before the last rites could begin, a violent incident led to his murder and the body was later swapped at the site.

The shocking killing has sent waves of fear and distress through the local community, as such violent crimes are rare in this sacred pilgrim town. Local police have reached the spot and taken the body into custody for further investigation.
