Holi celebrations turned tragic in Odisha as nine people drowned in separate incidents across the state. In Jajpur district alone, two deaths were reported — a minor drowned in the Brahmani river at Digambarapur, while a youth lost his life in the Kharasrota river near Jokadia under Jajpur Road Police Station while bathing with friends. Several such drowning cases were reported from different locations during the festival. The colour festival, meant for joy, ended in grief for multiple families as these incidents cast a shadow over Holi celebrations.
