Under the influence of Cyclone Montha, strong winds have triggered the formation of massive waves in Chilika Lake, Odisha’s iconic brackish water lagoon. The disturbance has been particularly visible near the famous Kalijai Temple, a major pilgrimage spot situated on an island within the lake.

Local visuals show large waves repeatedly crashing near the temple area, highlighting the growing impact of the cyclone over coastal and adjoining regions. The phenomenon is attributed to the intensified wind flow and changing pressure conditions linked to the system’s movement over the Bay of Bengal.
