In a significant development in Durgapur, West Bengal, five individuals have been arrested in connection with the gang rape of a 23-year-old medical student from Odisha. The incident occurred on October 10, 2025, near the IQ City Medical College campus.

The arrested suspects include Riazuddin Sheikh (31), a former security guard at the medical college, and four others: Apu Barui (22), Firdaus Sk (23), Safiq Sk (28), and Sk Nasiruddin (24).
