Security forces have intensified anti-Maoist operations to track down Maoist leader Shukru, who has reportedly been active in the insurgent organisation for nearly three decades. His house is located in Kurub village under Kalimela police station in Malkangiri district of Odisha, where both police and family members are searching for him.

As the deadline for Maoists to return to the mainstream approaches, Shukru’s younger brother has made an emotional appeal urging him to come back home and surrender before authorities. Police have also appealed to Maoists to give up violence and join the government’s rehabilitation policy.

Shukru carries a reward bounty of around ₹65 lakh, and police have launched strong operations in the forest areas to trace him. Meanwhile, his family in Kurub village continues to hope that he will eventually return and live a normal life with them.
