EPFO Introduces Major Reforms: Members Can Now Withdraw Up to 100% of Provident Fund Balance

In a significant policy shift, the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has announced that members can now withdraw up to 100% of their Provident Fund (PF) balance. This decision was made during a Central Board of Trustees (CBT) meeting chaired by Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. The move aims to provide greater financial flexibility to over 70 million EPFO subscribers.

The new withdrawal policy allows members to access their entire PF balance under certain conditions, including after retirement, two months of unemployment, or in cases of permanent relocation abroad. Additionally, the EPFO has simplified the withdrawal process by consolidating 13 provisions into three categories: essential needs, housing, and special circumstances. The minimum service requirement for partial withdrawals has been reduced to just 12 months.
