The first Super Eight clash of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup between New Zealand national cricket team and Pakistan national cricket team was abandoned due to heavy rain in Colombo. Pakistan had won the toss and elected to bat before persistent rain interrupted play.

As per rules, at least five overs per side were required to produce a result. However, despite hours of waiting, the rain did not relent, forcing officials to call off the match. Both teams shared one point each.

With points split, both sides must perform strongly in their remaining matches to qualify for the semifinals. The washout could create additional pressure for Pakistan in the race to the knockout stage.
