Speculation has intensified over whether the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Congress will come together for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. Discussions are underway on the possibility of fielding a joint candidate from Odisha.

Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Bhakta Charan Das is set to meet Opposition Leader and BJD Supremo Naveen Patnaik. He has sought time for a meeting and is likely to meet Naveen Patnaik in the first week of February. Bhakta Charan Das has said he will discuss the idea of uniting against the BJP and may propose a joint candidate for the Rajya Sabha.
