BJP MLA Ashok Das has raised pointed questions in the Assembly: Why has there been no action taken against V. K. Pandian, despite mounting allegations over the heavy security cover previously accorded to him? He argued that repeated statements by the former regime amount to nothing more than rhetoric without any concrete investigation.

“In a democratic system, protection for one individual should not come at the expense of public resources and law-and-order responsibilities,” Das said. He demanded a transparent, time-bound inquiry and urged the government to show results — not just continue with “empty talk.”

The controversy over Pandian’s security cover — which reportedly included up to 72 police personnel — has already sparked debate over misuse of state machinery. With increasing public concern and now a formal demand for action, Odisha’s political landscape may see renewed scrutiny over VIP privileges and accountability.
