The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has changed the rules for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2026, introducing new eligibility restrictions for officers already in service. According to the latest notification, candidates who are already appointed to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) or Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and continue to serve will not be eligible to appear in the CSE 2026, even if they previously qualified. If such an officer clears the Preliminary exam but gets appointed before the Main exam, they will also be barred from appearing in the Main exam.
