In a move to address student absenteeism, school authorities in Odisha have been directed to visit students’ homes if they remain absent from school for more than seven days. The aim is to understand the reasons behind their continued absence.

The Directorate of Elementary Education has issued a letter in this regard to all District Education Officers across the state, instructing schools to take proactive steps to ensure regular attendance.

As per the directive, teachers and school authorities will personally reach out to families to identify issues leading to absenteeism and take necessary corrective measures.
