A recent study involving 40 lactating mothers across districts in Bihar found the radioactive element uranium present in all breast-milk samples. The research, conducted in districts including Bhojpur, Samastipur, Begusarai, Khagaria, Katihar and Nalanda, revealed concentrations up to 5.25 µg per litre in one district, raising concern about potential infant exposure.
