A tragic incident from four years ago resurfaced during Makar Sankranti in Cuttack, as Sasmita Samal from Bhairipur area of Jagatpur broke down while recalling how her husband Jayanta Samal lost his life to manja suta. The incident occurred on Makar Sankranti when a sharp kite string slit his throat, leaving Sasmita widowed just six months into marriage and while she was one month pregnant.
