Machines roared and panic spread as massive trees were brought down in Palobani area of Baripada town. What was once a calm, green urban forest has now turned barren after large-scale tree cutting to make way for a proposed bus stand. Hundreds of trees were planted along the National Highway in 2014 under an urban forest initiative, but they were cleared within just two days, triggering public outrage.
