A fresh political controversy has erupted within the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) after party MLA Divya Shankar Mishra made a statement comparing politics to football, claiming he had scored a “goal” by pitching Kalikesh Singh Deo as a future leader acceptable to the entire state. Speaking at a public event, Divya Shankar recalled how Rajendra Narayan Singh Deo, Kalikesh’s grandfather, had once been Chief Minister and a source of pride for western Odisha, and said the party should collectively give leadership to Kalikesh.
