A century-old financial claim has resurfaced from Sehore in Madhya Pradesh, where Vivek Ruthia, grandson of Seth Jummalal Ruthia, has alleged that the British government borrowed Rs 35,000 in 1917 and never repaid it. The loan, reportedly taken during World War as a “War Loan,” was meant to ease administrative and economic pressure. The family claims the amount, worth crores in today’s value, remains unpaid.
