In Sonepur city, Odisha, a major protest erupted outside the local police station as unemployed youths and young women claimed they were cheated in a security guard job fraud. The complainants allege that a private agency, operating under the name “Kewa Security”, took large sums of money on the pretext of providing security guard jobs but failed to deliver on the promise. Many of the victims had been asked to pay money for alleged placement and were given short-term duty assignments before the agency disappeared without paying salaries or fulfilling job commitments.
