President Droupadi Murmu, on her six-day official visit to Odisha, visited the sacred Maa Biraja Temple in Jajpur and later performed pind daan — the ancestral ritual — at the temple premises. The ritual, offered for deceased forefathers, is a revered Hindu custom and was conducted after her darshan (ritual viewing) of the deity. Local authorities had kept the temple closed to general devotees throughout her stay to ensure smooth proceedings and security arrangements.
