“I cannot sleep, I cannot step out — these pests have invaded inside houses” — said a terrified resident, reflecting the fear this infestation has caused in the community. The invasion has disrupted daily life, and villagers are demanding urgent action from authorities.

Kalimundi pest swarms — known to damage crops like groundnut and pulses — had already hit multiple blocks of Kendrapara, damaging livelihoods and farmlands. But now with homes and villages affected, the crisis has escalated into a public-welfare emergency.
