Paddy procurement problems continue to trouble farmers in Koraput district, leaving them distressed. Farmers allege excessive deductions of 4 to 5 kg per quintal during procurement, calling it arbitrary katni-chhatni. Kharif paddy procurement began in the district on December 11, but farmers accuse millers at various mandis of high-handedness. Due to stalled procurement, tokens of many farmers have lapsed. Despite approaching the administration, farmers allege their grievances remain unheard.
