୭ ଜିଲ୍ଲା ସହ ୨୪ ସ୍ଥାନର ଇଂରାଜୀ ବନାନ ସଂଶୋଧନ ପାଇଁ ନିଷ୍ପତ୍ତି ପରେ ବ୍ୟତିକ୍ରମ ଅନ୍ୟ ସହରର ନାମ ସଂଶୋଧନ ପାଇଁ ତେଜୁଛି ଦାବି । ଇଂରାଜୀ ନାମରେ ବ୍ୟତିକ୍ରମ ଥିବା କଟକ ଓ ବ୍ରହ୍ମପୁର ଭଳି ଅନେକ ନାମ ସଂଶୋଧନ କରିବାକୁ ଦାବି କରିଛନ୍ତି ସ୍ଥାନୀୟ ବାସିନ୍ଦା।

Odisha's 24 Place Name Spellings Revised; More Demands Surge

The Odisha Revenue Department issued a notification proposing corrections to the English spellings of 24 places in 7 districts to better match Odia pronunciation, such as Khurda → Khoradha, Deogarh → Debagarh, Balasore → Baleshwar, Keonjhar → Kendujhar, Nayagarh → Nayagada, Kendrapara → Kendrapada, and others like Aul, Rairakhol, Athagarh. A 15-day window has been given for objections, after which a final gazette notification will be issued. Following this, demands are intensifying from other areas with colonial-era spellings, including changing Cuttack to Kataka and Berhampur (Brahmapur/Barhampur) to Brahmapur, with growing public dissatisfaction and calls for similar revisions across the state.
