The Odisha Police has announced a major investigation reform by appointing Crime Scene Officers (CSOs) in every police station across the state. These specially trained officers — drawn from constables and home guards with science qualifications — will be responsible for securing crime scenes, preserving evidence and using modern scientific methods such as audio and video recording to speed up the criminal justice process before forensic teams arrive.
