Residents of Nayagarh district — backed by BJD MLA Arun Kumar Sahoo — have threatened to shut down local roads if the government fails to establish a new medical college at the district headquarters. The protest stems from dissatisfaction over the proposed location being outside the main town.

“If they don’t heed us, Nayagarh roads will be blocked,” said MLA Arun Kumar Sahoo, underlining the community’s anger over perceived neglect.

The demand reflects a broader call for equitable distribution of essential infrastructure, especially medical education facilities, to ensure fair access for all residents of Nayagarh.
