Odisha’s Fisheries & Animal Resources Minister Gokulananda Mallik has claimed that under the previous BJD regime, local “babus” (middlemen) used to obtain all the benefits of government schemes meant for rural villagers. He asserted that now, under BJP rule, those intermediaries are gone — and people are receiving the benefits directly.

According to the minister: “Previously the ‘babus’ used to get benefits of every scheme for the villagers. Under BJP government, those are gone — now people are getting benefits directly.”

The statement aims to highlight transparency and direct welfare delivery promised by the current government, contrasting it with what the minister calls a tainted system under the previous regime.
