Ananta Narayan Jena, a BJD MLA (Biju Janata Dal legislator), raised sharp concerns about a local bus service used by commuters, saying that many people describe it as a “death-bus” because of persistent accident risks and safety issues. Jena pointed out problems such as lack of proper inspections, questions about the age and fitness certificates of buses, and alleged instances of drivers consuming alcohol, which in his view warrants the cancellation of licences and could lead to the service being shut down if not urgently addressed.
