A major political development unfolded in Bolagarh of Khordha district, where hundreds of workers from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) quit the party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The joining programme took place even as the BJD was observing its foundation day.

The event was organised at Raj Sunakhala under Badakumari Panchayat, where the induction was led by State BJP Vice President Jatin Mahanti. Ward members, former Samiti members and grassroots BJD workers formally joined the BJP.
